The Door

The doorThis door beautifully framed by bougainvillea reminds me of a famous painting of Jesus standing at a door, which could only be opened from the inside. He so respects our freedom that He will not enter unless invited by us.
We are all happy to get invited whether to a wedding (or an ordination!) Jesus is waiting for an “invite” to cross the threshold of our hearts. We have to remove the burglarproofing of our busyness and the cobwebs of our distractions so that we can hear the gentle knock.
When we do open the door, we discover how much we are loved and we grow in intimacy with our Guest who wants so much to reveal Himself to us and to show us our inner beauty. Come in Lord! – Photo & meditation Sr Annette Chow

Name: Fr Leo Donovan OP Order: Dominican (Order of Preachers) Date of Ordination: July 9, 1967 Portfolio: Parish Priest, Petit Valley “I am grateful to Trinidad and to the Church in Trinidad.” A sentiment shared by many priests who come into our archdiocese to serve. These same sentiments were shared by Irish-born, Fr Leo Donovan. As a young boy, Leo loved the members of his very Catholic family. Two members whom he particularly admired were two of his uncles, both of whom were priests serving in Trinidad, one in the 1930s, Fr Aengus Byrnes and one in the 1960s, Fr Anthony Roche. He also had three cousins who were priests and one cousin who is a nun. It was therefore relatively natural that he would, at a young age, decide to join the Order of Preachers. After seven years of study for the priesthood, he was ordained in 1967 and went to Rome to study for a license in theology. Saturday, September 15, 2012 First Professions for Irish Dominican friars Fr Gregory Carroll OP (prior provincial), Br Kevin O Reilly OP, Br Murchadh O Madagain OP and Fr Philip McShane OP (outgoing novice master) after the first profession of the two brothers. The Irish Dominican friars have received the first profession of two brothers on completion of their novitiate year. During the celebration of the conventual Mass in Saint Mary's Priory church in Pope's Quay, Cork today September 15th (the feast of our Lady of Sorrows), Bro Kevin O Reilly and Bro Murchadh O Madagain made profession in the hands of the prior provincial of the Irish Dominican province Fr Gregory Carroll OP. Bro Kevin comes to the Order with a doctoral degree in philosophy and had taught that subject in various institutes and universities.
